Short answer
To read 24 books of 300 pages in a year you need about 20 pages a day — roughly 23 minutes at the average 238 words per minute. Fifty-two books of the same length takes about 43 pages, or 50 minutes, a day.

How the plan is worked out
Books × pages per book ÷ days left = pages a day. Pages × 275 words ÷ your reading speed = minutes a day. The planner counts the days remaining in the current year, so a goal set in October is honest about what is left.
Common goals at 238 wpm (300-page books, full year)
- 12 books — 10 pages, about 11 minutes a day.
- 24 books — 20 pages, about 23 minutes a day.
- 52 books — 43 pages, about 50 minutes a day.
- 100 books — 82 pages, about 1 h 35 min a day.
If the books you read are meant to change something — habits, money, work — finishing is only half of it. Our guide to actually using a self-help book covers the other half.
